Trust

Mar Gregorios Academic Trust, in the holy name of Saint Geevargese Mar Gregorios who is popularly known as Parumala Thirumeni (Bishop of Parumala) and was the Metropolitan of the Malankara Church, is registered as a public charitable trust under Indian Trust Act in the year 2009. The trust board includes, President & Managing Trustee - Sri Sajeev Thiruvathukkal, Author –Late Rev. Fr. Dr. O.P. Varghese.

The seed of social consciousness that his father had sown in the mind of Sri. Sajeev Thiruvathukkal got germinated and sprouted in the year 2005 as TGM Vidyaniketan School at Maravanthuruthu.

TGM Vidyaniketan is an endeavor by MGAT trust in memory of Thiruvathukkal Gheevarghese Kathanar. Rev. Fr. Gheevarghese served as the vicar of Mar Augen church for more than four decades and was the founding vicar of Mar Augen Catholicate Centre, Manakunnam. He worked for the development of the society and for the poor across caste lines.

MGAT which was started in the year 2009 has created its own milestones in the field of social service. Social service activity of the trust includes distribution of food packets, clothes to the needy families as per the list issued by the Panchayath. The trust has also organized many medical camps in the sections of ENT, Ortho, general medicine etc. and broadened its helping hand in the distribution of spectacles to cataract patients,free treatment and surgeries, free computer education for the women in Maravanthuruthu Panchayath.

The commendable activities of the trust were Community awareness programs related to cancer, tobacco side effects, learning disability in children etc., gifts for the patients in pediatric oncology of Regional Cancer center Trivandrum, Blood donation camps, distributing study materials to the boys home children in the locality, contribution to the Palliative care center in the locality and also the doors of TGM were opened for the sufferers of recent flood in Kerala, food to the corona patients in the isolation camps.
